
Jason Alexander makes a surpris
ing departure joining the original Broadway cast of Love! Valour! Compassion! in the role of Buzz, who wants to "save the world for love and laughter." Alexander is best known for his eight seasons as hapless George Costanza on television's "Seinfeld" and has had a 20-year career spanning stage, screen and television. He is a Tony Award winner for "Jerome Robbins' Broadway" and a five time Emmy Award nominee. He has also received three Golden Globe nominations, an American Television Award, two American Comedy Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Alexander's screen credits include Brighton Beach Memoirs, Mosquito Coast, Jacob's Ladder, White Palace, Coneheads, Pretty Woman, I Don't Buy Kisses Anymore, The Paper, North, The Last Supper, Dunston Checks In and Blankman. He recently made his film directing debut with For Better Or Worse, a romantic comedy in which he also stars opposite Lolita Davidovich and James Woods.
Like Buzz, Alexander has demonstrated a great love of musical theater. His credits include "Merrily We Roll Along," "Broadway Bound," and the ABC mini-series "Bye Bye Birdie" opposite Vanessa Williams. He also portrayed Harry Truman in the one-man play "Give 'Em Hell Harry," earning a Dramalogue Award among other kudos. Alexander's voice has become equally famous in animated features and television series. He stars for the fourth season in the hit adult animation series "Duckman," and has provided voices for Aladdin, "The Return of Jafar" and most recently Hugo the Gargoyle in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. In the commercial realm, Alexander has lent his image to numerous campaigns, most notably as "The Amazing Pretzel Boy" for Frito Lay's award-winning Rold Gold spots.
Randy Becker is Ramon, the Puerto Rican dancer who brings a little lust and temptation into the mix of his lover's friends. Becker began his career shortly after graduating from Brown University. He has also appeared off-Broadway in "Tony N' Tina's Wedding" and in "Girl of My Dreams." Becker made his motion picture debut in Lie Down With Dogs. He originated the role of Ramon in the off-Broadway production of "Love! Valour! Compassion!" at the Manhattan Theatre Club (Obie Award) and on Broadway (Drama League Award). He is currently starring in the Los Angeles production of "Love! Valour! Compassion!"
Stephen Bogardus · Gregory Mitchell
Stephen Bogardus plays Gregory, the aging dancer/choreographer who surrounds himself in a time of uncertainty with an assortment of friends. Bogardus has appeared on Broadway in "Love! Valour! Compassion!" (Tony nomination), "Falsettos," "The Grapes Of Wrath," "Les Miserables" and "West Side Story." He has worked off-Broadway in "Genesis," "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg," "March of The Falsettos," "Falsettoland," "Feathertop," "No Way To Treat A Lady" and "In Trousers." He played the writer Stine in the Los Angeles production of "City of Angels" and Freddy Tumper in the national tour of "Chess." On television, he has guest starred on "New York Undercover," "Murder She Wrote" and "Tour of Duty," and is featured in the independent film States of Control.
John Glover · John and James Jeckyll
John Glover won a Tony Award for his ingenious double role as the polar opposite twins John and James Jeckyll in the Broadway version of "Love! Valour! Compassion!" Glover's previous film credits include 52 Pick-Up, Gremlins II, The Chocolate War, Masquerade, Scrooged, Rocket Gibraltar, White Nights, Julia, Annie Hall and the upcoming Batman and Robin.
He most recently starred in "Tartuffe: Born Again" at the Circle in the Square Theater. Broadway audiences have also seen him in "Great God Brown," for which he won a Drama Desk Award; "The Visit," "Holiday," "Chemin De Fer," "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "Frankenstein."
His television appearances include: "An Early Frost," "Nutcracker: Money, Madness and Murder" with Lee Remick, "An Enemy of the People" for American Playhouse; he has been nominated for five Emmy Awards.
John Benjamin Hickey · Arthur Pape
John Benjamin Hickey portrays Arthur, the accountant who has counted 14 years together with the same man. Hickey's previous film credits include Eddie, Only You, JFK, The Ref, The Bet, and the upcoming Ang Lee film The IceStorm. On stage, he has been seen in "Blue Window," directed by Joe Mantello; "The Substance of Fire" at Lincoln Center; "The End Of The Day," "On The Bum," "The Stand-In;" and "Twelfth Night" at the New York Shakespeare Festival. He has also appeared on television in "New York News" and "NYPD Blue."
Gregory's blind but not necessarily faithful lover Bobby is played by Justin Kirk. Kirk created the role of Bobby off-Broadway (OBIE Award) then brought it to Broadway (FANY Award). He was also seen on Broadway as Willis in "Any Given Day." Other New York stage credits include "Old Wicked Songs" at the Promenade Theatre, Bill C. Davis' "Spine" at the George Street Playhouse; "The Applicant" at Playwrights Horizons; "Loose Ends" at Intar; and "Shardston" with the Alchemy Courthouse Theatre Co. On television he has been seen on the recent pilot "Black At Ya," "New York News," and the CBS movie "All Of Us." Justin is a member of The Drama Dep't. and The Dimestore Darlings.
Stephen Spinella · Perry Sellars
Stephen Spinella is Perry, the strait-laced lawyer half of the "old marrieds" who join their group of friends for three eventful holidays. Spinella is the recipient of two Tony Awards and two Drama Desk Awards for his roles in "Angels In America," for both "Millenium Approaches" and "Perestroika." His other Broadway credits include "The Illusion" and "Burrhead E.W." On the screen, Spinella most recently starred in the role of the villain in the thriller Virtuosity and has appeared in Faithful and Tarentella. His television credits include the acclaimed HBO movie "And The Band Played On," as well as PBS' "In Search of Angels."
