ABOUT THE CAST


Anne Parillaud (Bernadette Bois)

Anne Parillaud first achieved international fame with Luc Besson's 1990 film La Femme Nikita, for which she won a Cesar (France's equivalent to the Oscar) for Best Actress.

Following the success of La Femme Nikita, Parillaud went on to star in the critically acclaimed Map of the Human Heart, as well as Innocent Blood, Six Days, Six Nights (directed by French director Diane Kurys) and Dead Girl, directed by Adam Coleman Howard (Slaves of New York).

Matt Dillon (Terry Klout)

Matt Dillon received the prestigious Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor for his performance in Gus Van Sant's Drugstore Cowboy and has impressed critics and audiences since his screen debut in 1979's Over The Edge, co-written by Tim Hunter. Hunter also directed Dillon in the 1982 film Tex and in The Saint of Fort Washington.

Dillon's other film credits include My Bodyguard, Little Darlings, Francis Ford Coppola's Rumble Fish and The Outsiders, Arthur Penn's Target, Native Son, The Flamingo Kid, The Big Town, Kansas, Bloodhounds of Broadway, A Kiss Before Dying, and most recently, Singles, Golden Gate and Mr. Wonderful. Due for release are Gus Van Sant's To Die For, Allison Anders' Grace of My Heart, Ted Demme's Beautiful Girls and Kevin Spacey's Albino Alligator.

Gabriel Byrne (Jack Kelly)

Gabriel Byrne's film career began in 1983 and his credits include such well known features as Defense of the Realm, Gothic, Miller's Crossing, Into the West, The Assassin, Dangerous Women and Little Women.

Lately, Byrne has divided his time between writing, producing and acting. His first book, Pictures in My Head, will be published this September. He served as executive producer of the Academy Award nominated In The Name of the Father, and produced and co-starred in Into the West. Byrne wrote, executive produced and has a cameo appearance in the soon to be released Last of the High Kings.

Rudi Davies (Emma Kelly)

Rudi Davies' film credits include Sammy and Rosie Get Laid, The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne, Resurrected and The Object of Beauty.

Davies has also done a great deal of television and theatre work, the latter including

"A Midsummer Nights Dream" for the National Theatre, "An Awfully Big Adventure" at the Liverpool Playhouse, "Penny for a Song" at the RSC Barbican, "A Lie of the Mind" at the Royal Court Theatre and "The Tempest" at the Old Vic Theatre.

Georgina Cates (Young Emma)

Georgina Cates moved from Essex to London at the age of 16 to commence her acting career, and has worked steadily in television, film and theatre since. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama from 1990 to 1993 while simultaneously pursuing television and theatre roles.

Prior to her appearance in Frankie Starlight, Cates played the lead role of Stella in Mike Newell's An Awfully Big Adventure, costarring Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman. Cates, whose real name is Clare Woodgate, won the part by transforming herself into the then unknown Cates, after her initial attempt to audition failed.

Cates' theatre work includes "Mr. Director" for the Orange Tree Theatre and "Baby Love" for Bill Kenwright Productions. Cates' other film credits include The Debutante, Playground Roundabouts and Behind the Gates.

Corban Walker (Frank Bois)

Corban Walker was born in Dublin in 1967. He attended the National College of Art and Design from 1987 to 1992 where he obtained a degree in Fine Art Sculpture. Walker is now based in Dublin working as a sculptor and has held two solo exhibitions in addition to taking part in many group exhibitions. He has also won two Irish Arts Council Awards. Frankie Starlight is Walker's first film.

Alan Pentony (Young Frank)

Alan Pentony is 13 years old and lives in Drogheda, north of Dublin. He took two months out from his first year in secondary school to play the part of Young Frankie.

Frankie Starlight is Pentony's first screen appearance.

Niall Toibin (Handy Paige)

Niall Toibin started his career in 1953 with RTE's Radio Repertory Company and played in the Abbey Theatre in Dublin during 1967. His theatre work in Ireland includes "The Iceman Cometh," "The Field," "The Hostage," and "The Borstal Boy" which he also played in New York, as well as "Fearless Frank" in the Princess Theatre in New York.

His film credits include Ryan's Daughter, Country Girls, Children in the Crossfire, Eat the Peach, Rawhead, Fools of Fortune, The Outsider and Far and Away.
